The Bench
The Bench is Nigeria's first AI-native legal research and intelligence platform. It lets Nigerian lawyers search tens of thousands of court decisions simultaneously, receive analytically structured answers grounded in real Nigerian authority, and never cite a case that has been overruled.
Every response is retrieved from a verified database of Nigerian court decisions before the AI synthesises an answer. The platform cannot hallucinate and cannot fabricate a citation. That is not a feature — it is an architectural decision that makes The Bench safe for professional legal use in a way general chatbots can never be.
What The Bench Does
Six capabilities built for how Nigerian lawyers actually work — from first research query to the moment they walk into court.
Conversational Legal Research
Ask any legal question in plain English. The platform searches for matching legal concepts, not just matching words, across all indexed Nigerian courts simultaneously.
Overridden Judgement Safeguard
Automatically identifies and flags any case that has been overruled, distinguished, or set aside by a higher court — before a lawyer relies on it in court.
Real-Time Audio Briefing
A lawyer speaks about a client's matter. The platform transcribes in real time and surfaces every applicable legal angle and authority before the first memo is written.
Deep Research Mode
For complex multi-issue matters, an exhaustive cross-jurisdictional analysis tracing a legal principle across decades of decisions, with conflicting authorities surfaced and ranked.
Firm Knowledge Base
Law firms upload their own briefs, opinions, and precedents. Those documents become searchable alongside national case law in a single session — institutional memory made live.
Opposition Analysis
Enter the opposing argument. The Bench surfaces contradicting authorities, rejected lines of reasoning, and weaknesses in the opposing position before you walk into court.
Full Coverage, in Plain English
The platform covers the highest courts and federal statutes in Nigeria — all searchable in plain English, in seconds, with full citation and attribution.
With more than 35,000 indexed court decisions, HNSW vector search, and hybrid BM25 semantic retrieval, lawyers get analytically structured answers grounded in real, verifiable Nigerian authority.

Institutional Adoption
We are currently in second-stage partnership discussions with the Court of Appeal and have held formal presentations with Chief Judges across Kwara State.
Alongside The Bench, The Chambers — a companion platform for the Nigerian judiciary — enables judges to preserve and publish their decisions under their own names, extending the same verified infrastructure to the bench itself.
